CHRISTIAN PURPOSE AND EXPECTATIONS:

All employees proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ through their employment, and thereby further BGEA’s religious mission.

Department Detail –The Montreat Office served the ministry of both Billy and Ruth Graham through support and logistical operations, and with the close of the Minneapolis office some years ago, it has become the oldest continuous BGEA ministry location now into its seventh decade of operation. Since Mr. Graham’s death, the remaining purpose of this office continues through historical material preservation, processing, cataloguing, and transferring valuable artifacts, memorabilia, and ministry files to the Billy Graham Archive and Research Center in Charlotte. In addition, Montreat office personnel are charged with maintaining and securing local BGEA real estate holdings including the Graham home, property, roadways, and the office complex until decisions about the continued use of those assets are determined.

Job Summary –The Maintenance & Security Assistant assists the Maintenance and Security Supervisor in Montreat, providing maintenance and security of the Montreat Office facilities and equipment, and assisting in maintenance and security for the Graham home.

Ministry Requirements

• Maintains a personal, active relationship with Jesus Christ and is a consistent witness for Jesus Christ
• Faithfully upholds BGEA in prayer
• Participates in daily BGEA staff devotions including Bible reading, and leading group prayer as schedule permits
• Demonstrates behavior aligned with BGEA’s Mission Statement, Statement of Faith, Hallmarks, policies, and expectations
• Effectively represents Jesus Christ to those within both personal and professional spheres of influence

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Provides professional maintenance and janitorial assistance for all BGEA properties in communication with the Supervisor of Maintenance/Security including parking lots and roadways
• Assists in repair and remodel projects for all BGEA properties including painting, caulking, drywall repairs, and carpentry
• Assists in coordination and maintenance of BGEA equipment and vehicles
• Acquires knowledge of maintenance work and mechanical (electrical and HVAC) systems, plumbing, roofing, turf/horticulture management and security protocols through in-service training, professional certification and personal awareness in coordination with the current Maintenance/Security Supervisor
• Assists security efforts for both the Graham home and the Montreat Office
• Prohibits unauthorized persons from entering building premises and enforce security procedures
• Works to become competent in snow removal and roadway preparedness for all BGEA owned property in Montreat
• Represents the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association with the highest integrity

Marginal Duties and Responsibilities

• Handles mail and shipping efforts as required for the Montreat Office
• Assists in light housekeeping and trash removal in Montreat Office
• Learns financial arrangements for the repair and replacement of equipment as necessary in coordination with Maintenance Supervisor
• Obtains expertise, certification and license for the use of firearms in security protocol and training
• Other duties as assigned

Job Specifications

Skills and Knowledge

• High school graduate with some technical and vocational training and experience in maintenance work
• Must have valid NC drivers license/clean driving record
• Able to use basic math skills in financial record keeping and planning
• Ability to read blueprints
• Ability to use and maintain electronic, communication, and power tool equipment
• Ability for continued in-service training and professional acumen through study and learning in order to communicate as needed with business, public and law enforcement and emergency personnel

Physical/Mental Demands

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Good interpersonal skills
• Ability to make good decisions
• Ability to be very mobile, in and out of vehicles, in order to perform maintenance and project operations
• Physical ability required in heavy duty labor
