Job Overview
As a Maintenance Mechanic, you’llbe responsible for supporting the daily maintenance and operation of a luxury high-rise residential condominium in downtown Pittsburgh. Working alongside an experienced maintenance team and reporting to the Community General Manager, this role ensures the building’s HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical systems, and overall physical plant operate safely and efficiently.
This position is ideal for maintenance professionals with experience in residential apartments, commercial high-rise buildings, healthcare facilities, university facilities, hospitality properties, or other large institutional environments who are looking to apply their skills in a well-maintained luxury residential community. The Maintenance Mechanic performs repairs, responds to work orders, supports preventative maintenance programs, and helps maintain the high service standards expected by residents and ownership.
Your Responsibilities
• Perform maintenance, repair, and replacement work involving HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical components, carpentry, painting, and mechanical equipment
• Respond to resident service requests and work orders, estimate repair time, and document completed work in the work order system
• Perform preventative maintenance on building systems and equipment according to established schedules
• Inspect building amenities and common areas to identify maintenance needs and safety concerns
• Troubleshoot building systems and respond quickly to operational issues affecting the property
• Coordinate with and monitor service vendors and contractors performing building repairs or maintenance
• Maintainappropriate inventory of maintenance supplies, tools, and equipment
• Ensure all work is completed in accordance with company policies and safety procedures
• Provide professional and responsive customer service to residents and colleagues
Skills & Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• 3 – 5 years of experience in building maintenance, facilities maintenance, or property maintenance
• Experience working in apartment communities, commercial buildings, healthcare facilities, universities, hotels, or high-rise properties strongly preferred
• Working knowledge of HVAC systems, plumbing systems, electrical systems, carpentry, and general building repairs
• Ability to troubleshoot mechanical and building systems effectively
• Strong communication skills and commitment to customer service
• Basic computer proficiency including Microsoft Office and email systems
Preferred (not required):
• Pittsburgh Stationary Power Engineer License
• Journeyman Plumbing License or other technical trade certification
Physical Requirements
• Ability to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds following proper safety procedures
• Ability to stand, walk, kneel, squat, climb stairs, and work in various physical positions throughout the day
• Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying environmental conditions
• Ability to respond to building maintenance needs and emergencies as required
Compensation:
$29-$34 per hour
