As a Maintenance Technician, you’ll keep our high‑speed production lines running safely and efficiently by executing preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance on processing and packaging equipment. You’ll troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues; support production startups/changeovers; and uphold food safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Equipment Reliability & Troubleshooting
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues on production equipment: dough mixers, dough dividers, presses/sheeters, ovens/fryers, proofers/coolers, conveyors, baggers, sealers, metal detectors, and checkweighers.
- Troubleshoot controls (PLCs, HMIs, sensors, relays), AC/DC motors, VFDs, photoeyes, encoders, and safety circuits.
- Perform line changeovers, setups, calibrations, and adjustments to minimize downtime and defects (wrinkling, weight variance, bake color).
Preventive & Predictive Maintenance
- Execute PMs and lubrication routes; document findings in the CMMS; escalate recurring failures and parts needs.
- Support PdM tools (thermal/IR, vibration, ultrasound) where applicable; replace wear parts proactively (belts, bearings, chains, seals, nozzles).
- Assist with oven/fryer burner tuning, thermal profiling, and airflow checks for bake uniformity and throughput.
Food Safety, Quality & Compliance
- Work within GMP, HACCP, SQF/BRC requirements; maintain sanitary design and hygienic repair practices (food‑grade lubricants, allergen segregation, tool control).
- Support metal detector and checkweigher verification, scale calibration, and documentation.
- Follow LOTO, machine guarding, NFPA 70E, and facility safety policies; complete safety work permits and JSAs as required.
Utilities & Facilities
- Support utilities as trained: compressed air systems, boilers (steam), chilled water/glycol, HVAC, and (if applicable) ammonia refrigeration (evaporators, valves—assist licensed operators).
- Perform basic fabrication (welding, cutting, machining) for guards, brackets, and sanitary modifications.
- Maintain lighting, doors, drains, dock equipment, and general facility infrastructure.
Continuous Improvement & Documentation
- Identify root causes, implement corrective and preventive actions (RCCA/5‑Why), and contribute to TPM/5S and Kaizen events.
- Maintain accurate work orders, parts usage, and equipment history in CMMS; collaborate with production and QA on downtimes and quality issues.
- Support installation/commissioning of new lines, upgrades, sensors, and safety devices; read/interpret technical drawings and OEM manuals.
Qualifications:
Required
- 3+ years of industrial maintenance experience in food & beverage or high‑speed manufacturing.
- Proficiency in mechanical/electrical troubleshooting: bearings, gearboxes, chains/sprockets, pneumatics, hydraulics, motors, VFDs, sensors, relays.
- Experience with processing and packaging equipment
- Ability to read electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and P&IDs; basic PLC/HMI familiarity (Allen‑Bradley/Siemens a plus).
- Strong safety mindset with working knowledge of LOTO, machine guarding, and electrical safety (70E).
- Comfortable using CMMS, digital work orders, and basic MS Office/Teams.
Preferred
- Baking/ or any food/beverage experience (press/sheeter/oven/fryer setup and tuning).
- Basic PLC troubleshooting (I/O forcing, ladder logic navigation—no programming required).
- Sanitary welding/fabrication (TIG/MIG), stainless repairs, conveying alignment, and belt tracking.
- Boiler/steam systems, compressed air dryers/filters, and refrigeration exposure (IIAR training a plus).
- Certifications: OSHA‑10/30, NFPA 70E, Ammonia Awareness, Forklift/Aerial Lift.
- Bilingual English/Spanish helpful in a diverse, fast‑paced environment.
Physical & Work Environment
- Stand/walk for extended periods; lift/pull/push up to 50 lbs; climb ladders; work on platforms.
