Job Title: Machine Operator
Location:East El Paso
Reports To: Production Supervisor / Operations Manager
Job Overview:
A Machine Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining machinery used in the production process. This role ensures that machines are functioning properly, meets quality standards, and produces products in an efficient and safe manner. Machine Operators work closely with the production team to meet production goals and ensure quality control.
Key Responsibilities:
Machine Operation:
- Operate and monitor machinery to ensure efficient and safe production.
- Set up machines for production runs, including adjusting settings for specific job requirements.
- Troubleshoot and resolve minor machine issues to minimize downtime.
- Follow work orders or production schedules to meet production targets.
Quality Control:
- Inspect finished products for defects or quality issues, ensuring that all items meet the company's quality standards.
- Perform routine quality checks at specified intervals during production.
- Document and report any defects or discrepancies found in production.
Maintenance & Cleaning:
- Perform routine maintenance on machines, such as cleaning and lubricating equipment.
- Notify supervisors or maintenance teams about any major mechanical issues or breakdowns.
- Follow safety procedures for machine cleaning, maintenance, and repair.
Safety & Compliance:
- Follow safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and team members.
- Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by safety guidelines.
- Report any safety hazards or incidents immediately to the supervisor.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area to prevent accidents.
Record Keeping:
- Document production data, machine settings, and maintenance performed.
- Report daily production results, machine downtime, and any maintenance issues.
- Track material usage, machine hours, and product output.
Collaboration:
- Work closely with other team members to meet production goals and deadlines.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and other departments to address any issues.
- Assist with training new machine operators or other team members when necessary.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certification is a plus.
- Previous experience as a machine operator or in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret production schedules, blueprints, and technical documents.
- Basic knowledge of machine maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high-quality standards.
- Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for long periods and perform repetitive tasks.
- Ability to lift, carry, or move up to 50 lbs or more.
- Manual dexterity to operate machinery, tools, and equipment.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and sometimes noisy manufacturing environment.
Working Conditions:
- Manufacturing or industrial environment, with exposure to heat, noise, and machinery.
- Shift work may be required, including evenings, weekends, or overtime depending on production schedules.
- Some tasks may involve working with hazardous materials or chemicals, depending on the industry.
