Job Description:
Assembles machines, equipment, and their subassemblies, such as coil carts, uncoilers, pinch roll units, peeler holddowns, straighteners, levelers, feeders, and automatic stackers, following blueprints and other written and verbal specifications: Plans assembly procedures, following specifications and using knowledge gained by experience. Rebuild and repair machines and equipment using hand tools and power tools. Removes small quantities of metal, using hand files or portable grinders to clean parts or to produce a close fit between parts. Drills, taps, or ream holes, using a drill press or a portable drill. Aligns components and bolts, screws, or rivets them together, using hand tools or portable powered tools. Installs moving parts, such as shafts, rolls, levers, or bearings, and works them to test free movement. May bend and install pipe for hydraulic and lubrication systems. May align and mesh gears in the gearbox to assemble a system of gears. May test or assist in testing the operation of the completed product. May perform cleaning and painting of equipment. Disassemble equipment and prepare equipment for shipment to the customer's plant. May install equipment in customer's plant. Perform mechanical troubleshooting

- Set up lines and perform appropriate checks on the line.
- Follow project due dates as assigned by the Assembly Team Manager.
- Properly retrieve and place reference documents in the Assembly area.
- Determine appropriate pictures to reference, obtain the picture, and return when referencing is complete.
- Retrieve documents and materials needed for the project and return documents to the Assembly reference area upon completion of the project.
- MIG weld mild steel and aluminum- horizontal and vertical.
- Moving products using overhead cranes, forklift trucks, hand carts, and machinery-moving devices.
- Communicate nonconforming product to the Assembly Department Team Manager.
- Record problems found during line build.
- Document issues on the"Things Gone Right/Things Gone Wrong" form in the Assembly Department "Reference Area" upon completion of line build.
- Develop Machine Inspection Check Sheets.
- Properly handle, move, and store assembly work-in-process from storage areas to the machine assembly stations.
- Properly prepare the product and complete the check sheet.
- Attend monthly assembly department meetings, including monthly safety trainings.
- Follow all safety procedures and safety rules, wear the prescribed PPE, and work safely and carefully at all times.
Job Requirements:
- Must be able to read blueprints and work from them.
- Must have knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, benefits, repair, and maintenance.
- Must know how to use all basic hand and power tools and precision measurement devices, including calipers, verniers, and micrometers.
- Must have own hand tools.
- Must have knowledge of air and hydraulics.
- Must have experience in welding techniques, primarily MIG welding, vertical and horizontal.
- Must be willing and able to go on service calls.

Work Environment:
Normal plant environment. Contact with dirty and oily surfaces is likely. Long periods of standing on concrete floors is the norm. May be required to work in extreme temperatures: high heat and humidity in the summer, and cold temperatures when working on customer plant startups. Noise levels in the plant are normally low, but high noise levels can be expected when working in customer stamping plants, or at our plant when grinding, drilling, and hammering, etc. Safety glasses and steel-toe shoes are required. Hearing protection and hard hats may be required at the customer's plant.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, and to climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to walk; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
