Ro Health is looking for a dedicated Medical Assistant (MA) to join our healthcare team at a California State Prison!
This position plays a vital role in providing essential healthcare support to incarcerated individuals, ensuring a safe, hygienic, and therapeutic environment within the facility.
Details:
- Location: Tehachapi, CA
- Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8-hour shifts, AM
- Higher Pay for Travelers: Additional compensation for those commuting 50+ miles from the facility
- Employment Type: Contract
- Active Medical Assistant certification from one of the following boards:
- American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA)
- American Medical Technologists (AMT)
- California Certifying Board of Medical Assistants (CCBMA)
- Multiskilled Medical Certification Institute, Inc. (MMCI)
- National Center of Competency Testing (NCCT)
- American Medical Certification Association (AMCA)
- At least 1 year of MA experience
- BLS Certification from the American Heart Association
- Ability to pass a strict background check
- Strong patient care and communication skills
- Assist healthcare providers with patient assessments and minor medical procedures
- Perform routine clinical tasks, including taking vital signs, documenting medical history, and preparing patients for exams
- Administer medications and injections under supervision (as permitted by law)
- Collect and prepare laboratory specimens for analysis
- Maintain medical records and input data into electronic health systems
- Support infection control protocols and ensure medical supplies are stocked and organized
- Provide patient education on prescribed treatments and health maintenance
- Ensure compliance with facility policies, HIPAA regulations, and facility safety standards
