Job Summary

The Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) provides supplemental services to our clients and will strive to provide these services in a compassionate, professional, ethical and knowledgeable fashion. Work requires basic concern for quality of care, helping the drug abuser and belief in human potential for positive growth, as well as a willingness to coordinate and work cooperatively with others. The LVN contributes to the provision of quality nursing care through techniques that support and achieve positive outcomes in patient care.  Must be able to work weekends and holidays and partial days during the week.

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Assists the Medical Director in the performance of his/her duties. Assists in the performance of medical examinations on Aliviane Inc. clients.
  • Considerable knowledge of the care and treatment of patients and special procedures that apply to practical nursing.Will be knowledgeable of all medication, reactions and dosage requirements.
  • Communicates with all staff, patients and families with excellent written and verbal skills.
  • Conduct admission assessment, to include social, medical and detox assessment, develop detoxification plan, and initiate appropriate standing orders.
  • Responsible for training residential technicians and others on self-administration of medication, monitoring vital signs, and other topics as assigned, and evaluation of performance of these duties.
  • Administration of patient medication and evaluation of efficacy of pharmacotherapy during detoxification and withdrawal.
  • Consistently seek educational tools and in-services in order to broaden knowledge base of various age groups, diseases and best practices.
  • Will handle and be knowledgeable of all medical equipment utilized in the care of the patient.
  • Any other duties and as assigned by the supervisor or management.

  Minimum Education and Experience Qualifications

  • Graduate from a nursing school which is regionally accredited with LVN licensure in the State of Texas.
  • One year experience in a detoxification setting.
  • Any combination  of education and experience that can be demonstrated to be applicableto the duties listed in the job description.
