SUMMARY

The Warehouse Assistant is responsible for the lubricant warehouse to include accountability for receipts and shipments of products, safety of warehouse, accurate management of inventory items and various other duties. The Warehouse Assistant is also responsible for loading, unloading, and repackaging of bulk products in absence of the Quality Specialist.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES BY COMPETENCY:

  Ensure a safe, clean, and organized environment in work areas, warehouse, and grounds

  Unload deliveries received and stores in inventory according to company protocols

  Ensure that products are pulled and staged for daily deliveries accurately and in a manner that meets or exceeds vendor quality requirements and customer expectations

  Compile, enter, and track shipping/receiving data related to warehouse performance metrics (KPI)

  Focus on organizational and divisional goals continually

  Ensure that accurate and up to date sales orders/shipping documents are in place prior to loading and delivery

  Maintain regular attendance and follow designated safety practices

  Manage inventory of warehouse supplies to ensure no disruptions of normal operations

  Create efficiencies related to processes and/or warehouse operations

  Perform other duties not listed as required

 

Communication

 

  Keep direct supervisor apprised of problems or issues that are beyond a typical scope

  Ensure clear, complete, and timely communication with team members in other functional areas

  Provide accurate and updated documents to communicate with team members which products have been pulled and staged for delivery

  Ensure communication with customers, suppliers, vendors, and co-workers is professional and appropriate

  Ensure prompt communication to Plant Manager and/or Human Resources Department of any personnel issues

 

Customer Service Orientation

 

  Ensure accurate product levels, sizes, and quantities on packaged products in order to minimize backorders

  Ensure that products are pulled and staged timely, accurately and in a manner that meets or exceeds customer delivery expectations

  Provide warehouse performance data and reports to management and division as needed and/or requested

 

Developing Talent

 

  Work with other team members to drive continuous improvement in individual, departmental, and organizational productivity

  Drive continuous improvement and growth within existing position

  Know, understand, and follow company standards for product integrity and package appearance (DPIM)

  Complete required training for position as assigned

  Complete necessary cross training as required on bulk receiving and repackaging operations to provide backup in absence of Quality Specialist

 

Safety

 

  Work diligently to identify and correct safety deficiencies in a timely manner

  Complete all safety training as required for this position

  Follow all safety policies and procedures and strive to avoid preventable accidents

  Inform Plant Manager promptly of unsafe conditions and behaviors, and recommend how to correct or eliminate them

  Adhere to company safety policies and report all work-related injuries, incidents, and near misses immediately

  Attend and participate in safety meetings

  Cooperate with the medical provider, following and treatment plan(s) and/or return-to-work program(s)

 

Technical Expertise

 

  Manage handling of inventory to minimize damage and ensure that correct levels/products are received, staged, and shipped

  Perform regular inspections on equipment to ensure that company standards are upheld for safe, efficient, and proper operations

  Know understand, and follow company/vendor product integrity programs for all goods and services

  Assemble, maintain, and install (when applicable) plant and customer equipment

  Load, unload, and repackage bulk products in absence of Quality Specialist

  Perform essential functions of Warehouse Quality Specialist position in their absence

Education:                                High school diploma or equivalent

 

Experience:                              3+ months of experience in a warehouse or related field

 

Language Skills:                       Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English in a manner

that is sufficient for effective communication with groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public

 

Skills and Abilities:       

(May be representative but not all-inclusive of those commonly associated with the position)

 

  Ability to use fixed gauges, direct reading instruments and similar devices

  Ability to operate handheld scanners

  Knowledge of company ERP system or ability to learn it quickly

  Ability to use some judgment to comply with instructions, prescribed routines, methods and/or practices or to respond to present computer menu choices or pre-programmed computer commands involving the making of minor decisions

  Ability to handle customer, office, and supervisor requests appropriately

  Safety and quality-oriented

  Knowledge of shipping and receiving equipment

  Usage of Forklift

  Handheld scanners
