Job Details
This contract Logistics Specialist will support daily transportation operations with a primary focus on coordinating and dispatching Less Than Truckload (LTL) shipments. The role is execution-heavy and service-oriented, requiring strong organization, responsiveness, and comfort managing time-sensitive requests that come in primarily through email. Cross training is intentionally built into the assignment.
Key Responsibilities
- Dispatch and schedule LTL shipments using third-party carriers
- Manage a high volume of inbound emails related to shipping requests, tracking, ETAs, and rate quotes
- Respond to time-sensitive requests, often within the hour
- Coordinate shipments originating from multiple distribution points delivering nationally
- Communicate with internal partners and external carriers to ensure timely execution
- Maintain shipment details and updates within ERP systems (training provided)
- Support freight issue resolution and shipment changes
- Collaborate with a transportation team handling LTL, bulk, and van shipments
Qualifications
- Degree or equivalent experience
- 2–3 years of experience in transportation, logistics, or dispatching
- LTL experience preferred
- Strong email organization and prioritization skills
- Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced environment
- ERP experience preferred (training provided)
- Hazmat experience helpful but not required
