Overview

Logistician (F3500-2025-24379)

Bowhead seeks a Logistician withHVAC/Maintenance Technician experience to join our team in Crane, IN.  The Logistician will be responsible for fabrication, assembling, installing and maintaining refrigeration, cooling and heating systems as well as their components by using blueprints and schematic drawings.

Responsibilities

  • Complete air flow analysis and recommendations
  • Working from manufacturer specifications, will inspect and test electrical and signal circuits
  • Will check clearances, voltages and perform ampere measuring as required prior to bringing any equipment/system back into service
  • Observe mechanical devices, pumps, engines, motors, refrigeration/air conditioning systems in operation and listens to their sounds to locate causes of trouble
  • Starts devices to test their performance
  • Keep records for equipment showing type, model number, and date of installation and extent of service
  • Obtains ability to read Amp meters, ohmmeters, test lamp, voltmeter, wattmeter, thermometer and manometer, Refrigerant gauges, vacuum pumps and refrigerant scales and refrigerant recycle/recovery equipment
  • May work independently, may work with electricians, engineers, plumbers or duct work/sheet metal workers
  • Will complete studies and research to update and modify training, manuals and tactics
  • Complete analysis to ensure assets are used in optimal environmental and operational conditions
  • May perform routine maintenance and upgrades to the system which may include major refurbishment or replacement
  • Will ensure systems design requirements are economically feasible and all research and development facilities and infrastructure elements necessary to the design, development, initial fielding, and operational support of the system are identified, developed, acquired, and supported

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree is required in addition to at least fifteen (15+) years of experience
  • Must have excellent troubleshooting skills with compressors, motors, condensers, fans, thermostats, ducts, pipes and other mechanical, electrical and electronic equipment and/or systems
  • Must have prior experiencemonitoring, operating, maintaining and troubleshooting electro-mechanical systems interconnected and suppling cooling water to laboratory equipment
  • Must have prior first-hand experience with maintaining cooling towers, chillers, motor/pump assemblies, interconnecting piping, basket strainers, pneumatically-controlled actuators/valves, pressure transducers and electronic controllers, heat exchangers, and glycol-water loops, as well as, deionized-demineralized water filtration
  • Additional special skill sets and certifications will allow for maintaining and troubleshooting HVAC systems, motors/pump assemblies, glycol-water system, nitrogen generators and control circuitry and pipe fitting and welding of 304 and 316 stainless steel and nickel-copper alloys experience is required
  • An EPA 608 certification required
  • Intermediate to advanced level skills in Microsoft Office software suite - Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and outside contacts
  • Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment with the ability to work alone or as part of a team

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time
  • Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically

SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Must currently hold a security clearance at the Secret level.  US Citizenship is a requirement for Secret clearance at this location.
