Join Our Team as a Locum Physician - General Medicine in Arizona

Are you a dedicated General Medicine Physician seeking flexible, impactful temporary assignments that allow you to serve veterans while maintaining your professional independence? We are seeking compassionate, detail-oriented physicians to provide essential assessment services across Arizona. In this role, you will perform Compensation & Pension exams and Separation Health Assessments through Veterans Evaluation Services (VES), a Maximus company committed to supporting our nation's heroes. You will conduct interview-based assessments with some physical evaluations, focusing on providing high-quality evaluations without prescribing or treatment responsibilities. The position offers flexibility with half-day (4-hour) or full-day (8-hour) shifts, fitting easily into your schedule.

The ideal candidate is a licensed Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Orthopedic Surgery provider with experience in general medicine or compensation and pension exams. Local candidates are preferred, as travel expenses are included in the pay rate, and excellent credentialing and onboarding processes ensure a smooth start.

Required Skills:

  • Medical degree (MD or DO) with active license in Arizona
  • Experience with general medicine, family medicine, internal medicine, or orthopedic surgery
  • Knowledge of assessment protocols for compensation and pension evaluations
  • Strong interview and physical assessment skills
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently in a fast-paced environment

Nice to Have Skills:
  • Previous experience performing VA or DOD assessments
  • Certification in disability evaluation or compensation & pension exams
  • Familiarity with medical diagnostics and documentation protocols

Preferred Education and Experience:
  • Medical degree from an accredited institution
  • License to practice medicine in Arizona
  • Prior experience in disability evaluations or related assessments is advantageous

Other Requirements:
  • Must reside within specified radius of assigned locations or have own office setup for off-site roles
  • Willingness to work on a PRN basis with ongoing availability
  • Ability to complete exams promptly and accurately
  • No reimbursement for certifications or portal training prior to start
  • Effective communication skills and attention to detail
