This vital role offers the flexibility to work across various locations in Arizona, providing essential compensation and pension evaluations to Veterans, helping ensure they receive the benefits they deserve. What You’ll Do:

  • Conduct Compensation & Pension exams and Separation Health Assessments primarily through interviews, with some physical assessments such as range of motion and muscle strength testing.
  • No prescribing or treatment involved, focusing solely on evaluations.
  • Complete exams efficiently within assigned timeframes, submit reports, and perform necessary administrative follow-up work.
  • Work on a PRN basis, with options for half-day (4 hours) or full-day (8 hours) shifts, offering flexibility to your schedule.
  • Utilize your expertise to serve Veterans across multiple Arizona locations, including Flagstaff, Sierra Vista, Tuba City/Chinle, Nogales, Safford, and Payson. Candidates must reside within specified radius requirements for each location.

Required Skills:
  • Valid Nurse Practitioner licensure and certification.
  • Background in family medicine, internal medicine, orthopedic surgery, or general medicine.
  • Experience with compensation and pension evaluations is highly preferred.
  • Strong interview skills and physical assessment abilities.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and adhere to strict deadlines.

Nice to Have Skills:
  • Prior experience with government or military-related evaluations.
  • Familiarity with VA or veterans’ healthcare processes.
  • Additional certifications related to medical assessments or evaluations.

Preferred Education and Experience:
  • Master's Degree or higher in Nursing (e.g., MSN, DNP).
  • Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in general medicine or related fields.
  • Experience in performing VA or similar assessments is advantageous.

Other Requirements:
  • Must be a local candidate with travel included in the rates.
  • Ability to work flexible hours as needed.
  • Willingness to complete required training and perform initial exams.
  • No reimbursement provided for certifications or portal training prior to onboarding.
  • Immediate availability for onboarding and commencement starting March 6, 2026.

Compensation & Benefits:
  • Hourly rate of $402.00, with flat rates for exams: $600 for half-day (4 hours or less) and $1200 for full-day (5 hours or more).
  • One-time bonus of $650 upon completing training and initial exams.
  • Weekly pay schedule via direct deposit.
