Litigation Paralegal

A boutique Chicago law firm is currently seeking a new Litigation Paralegal to join our team. Strong candidates will be able to work independently and be comfortable with a heavy focus on working within a case-management-system-centric atmosphere. This position runs in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines and strict standards.

Schedule & Location:

• Work hours are Monday-Friday 8:30am – 5:00pm.

Requirements:

• Paralegal Certificate from an accredited ABA Program.
• 1-2 years Paralegal Experience in litigation.
• All Firm employees are required to pass comprehensive background checks.

Responsibilities:

• Document Generation -- Generate drafts of legal documents for attorney review and signature. Review and proofread documents to ensure accuracy, including complaints, discovery, and motions of various varieties.
• Case Management – Oversee, manage, and push forward a full load of litigated case files for 1 or more attorneys, including staying up to date on all deadlines and upcoming dates.
• System Updates – Working various case files, communication with clients, and processing documents to and from clients, courts, and opposing counsel.
• Escalations - Identify and escalate unusual or complex issues to your attorneys, colleagues, and clients.
• Internal and External Communication – Providing clear, professional, and relevant communications to clients, vendors, and colleagues via case management systems, phone, and email.

Experience and Skills:

• Detail Oriented - Strict compliance with applicable regulations, policies, procedures, and system processes is required.
• Judgment - Must be comfortable taking the initiative to promptly collaborate with, seek help, and input from attorneys and colleagues.
• Independent -Must be a self-starter, dependable, and reliable.
• Multi-Task - After training is completed, you must have the ability to work independently and prioritize various tasks on your workload.
• Technological Competence – Ability to learn and navigate various case management systems. Identify opportunities to improve systems and leverage integrations/automations to streamline workflow.
• Proficiency in Office 365 Applications

“Pluses” for Potential Candidates:

• Bachelor’s degree or associate Degree preferred
• Experience with eFiling and/or eRecording
• Experience using financial services case management systems, such as BKFS (LPS), Tempo, and VendorScape
• Experience in Illinois mortgage foreclosures, real estate law, reviewing title commitments, processing deeds, or other recordable instruments
