RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THE LINUX SYSTEM ADMINISTRATOR

  • Design, implement, and maintain Linux infrastructure across on-premises and cloud environments
  • Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls using industry best practices
  • Monitor system performance, security, and availability; implement proactive solutions to prevent downtime
  • Perform regular system updates, patches, and security hardening to maintain compliance standards
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues with minimal disruption to business operations
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for systems, procedures, and disaster recovery protocols
  • Collaborate with development teams to support application deployment and infrastructure requirements
  • Implement and manage backup and disaster recovery solutions
  • Conduct security audits and implement remediation measures
  • Provide on-call support on a rotating basis for critical infrastructure issues

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE FOR THE LINUX SYSTEM ADMINISTRATOR

  • 5+ years of hands-on Linux system administration experience
  • Strong proficiency with RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu, or Debian distributions
  • Advanced knowledge of networking, DNS, DHCP, and firewall configuration
  • Experience with virtualization technologies (VMware, KVM, or Hyper-V)
  • Proficiency in shell scripting (Bash) and automation tools (Ansible, Puppet, or Chef)
  • Solid understanding of Linux security hardening and compliance frameworks (CIS, NIST)
