The Laboratory / X-Ray Technologist works under general supervision to perform laboratory and x-ray procedures involving a high degree of independent judgment. Performs patient care and reception tasks under general supervision with minimal independent judgment.
Saturday and Sunday 12 hour shifts from 7AM to 7PM.
Responsibilities:
1. Prepare laboratory and laboratory equipment and x-ray supplies and equipment for daily operation (e.g., turn on equipment and computer, retrieve necessary chemicals, reagents, etc.). This duty is performed daily, about 10% of the time.
2. Inventory lab and x-ray supplies to ensure sufficient amounts are available. This duty is performed weekly, about 1% of the time.
3. Examine expiration dates of chemicals and replace expired products. This duty is performed weekly, about 1% of the time.
4. Perform shut-down procedures on equipment at end of day (e.g., general cleaning, flushing lines, disassembly, return. This duty is performed daily, about 5% of the time.
5. Restock lab and x-ray supplies for the next day. This duty is performed daily, about 5% of the time.
6. Record, enter and file test results in to computer log books. This duty is performed as needed, about 10% of the time.
7. Dispose of potentially hazardous samples and materials according to specified guidelines. This duty is performed as needed, about 1% of the time.
8. Prepare samples for delivery to other laboratories and enter in computer. This duty is performed as needed, about 10% of the time.
9. Receive lab results from other laboratories. This duty is performed as needed, about 10% of the time.
10. Route/deliver lab test results and x-ray to designated personnel. This duty is performed as needed, about 5% of the time.
11. Participate in quality control programs, proficiency testing to ensure the reliability and validity of obtained laboratory test results. This duty is performed annually, about 1% of the time.
12. Performing quality control procedures for lab tests provided and calibrations on equipment. This duty is performed as needed, about 1% of the time.
13. Schedule and perform routine preventive maintenance on all instruments/equipment (e.g., cleaning parts, flushing lines, etc.). This duty is performed monthly, about 1% of the time.
14. Execute minor repairs on equipment as needed (e.g., replacing broken probes, broken tubing, etc.). This duty is performed as needed, about 1% of the time.
15. Monitor use and maintenance of lab equipment/instruments and x-ray equipment by other office personnel. This duty is performed as needed, about 1% of the time.
16. Maintain filing system for laboratory and x-ray (e.g., quality control results, equipment maintenance schedules, etc.). This duty is performed monthly, about 1% of the time.
17. Prepare monthly, quarterly & annual Quality Assurance Reports. This duty is performed monthly, about 1% of the time.
18. Complete and obtain ABN waivers as needed. This duty is performed as needed, about 1% of the time.
19. Maintaining patient charts for check in and triage. This duty is performed as needed, about 10% of the time.
20. Trouble-shoot and ascertain nature of equipment problems as they arise (e.g., equipment failures, reason for unusual lab results, etc.). This duty is performed as needed, about 1% of the time.
21. Confer with equipment distributor to schedule equipment repair/maintenance appointments, ask questions regarding equipment failures, etc. This duty is performed as needed, about 1% of the time.
22. Order laboratory and x-ray supplies as needed (e.g. rubber gloves, reagents, etc.). This duty is performed as needed, about 1% of the time.
23. Complete paperwork to document patient flow, quality control procedures, charge tickets, etc. This duty is performed as needed, about 10% of the time.
24. Maintain annual CME requirements for personnel registry. This duty is performed annually, about 10% of the time.
25. Perform EKG's as needed. This duty is performed as needed, about 1% of the time. 26. Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
Qualifications:
High school or GED, plus specialized schooling and/or on the job education in a specific skill area; e.g. data processing, clerical/administrative, equipment operation, etc, plus 12 to 18 months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
