Position Summary

Boeing Global Services (BGS) is seeking Aircraft Mechanics II – Structural to support the F/A-18 program in San Antonio, TX. This role performs complex aircraft structural repairs, modifications, troubleshooting, and rework involving aluminum, titanium, and stainless steel components.

Mechanics will install, repair, and modify structural parts; interpret engineering drawings and technical data; perform precision drilling and fastening; and support depot-level maintenance operations. Regular and predictable attendance is required.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform close-tolerance drilling, reaming, countersinking, removal, and installation in fracture-critical areas.

  • Identify and locate blind holes for installation of new structural components.

  • Seal, paint, shim, and preserve aircraft structures per standard repair processes.

  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, technical orders, work instructions, and retrofit requirements.

  • Use depot-level fixtures and tooling assemblies for structural modification and repair.

  • Troubleshoot aircraft mechanical components and non-complex electrical systems.

  • Utilize unique aircraft tools (test equipment, torque wrenches, micrometers, calipers, tensiometers, sheet metal brakes/shears, etc.).

  • Access aircraft data systems and initiate parts requests or discrepancy reports.

  • Maintain required certifications, licenses, PPE usage, and compliance with FOD/Tool Control procedures.

  • Climb ladders, work in confined spaces, and handle materials up to 35 lbs.

  • Support cross-functional teams to meet schedule, cost, and quality targets.

  • Pass end-of-training assessments and maintain site-specific compliance certifications.


Physical Requirements

  • Lift up to 35 lbs; occasional two-person lifts for items over 50 lbs.

  • Frequent standing, walking, overhead reaching, climbing ladders, balancing on uneven surfaces.

  • Occasional crawling, bending/stooping, sitting, and use of foot controls.

  • Work in confined spaces; exposure to elevated platforms and high-noise environments.

  • Ability to use required PPE and pass vision/color-perception testing.

  • Ability to handle hazardous materials and follow safety protocols.


Required Qualifications

  • 4+ years working with non-porous metals (aluminum, titanium, stainless steel).

  • 4+ years experience with schematics, specifications, assembly drawings, and SOPs.

  • 4+ years experience using structural tools (45°/90° drills, pancake adapters, countersink cages, hole-finders, rivet guns, etc.).

  • 4+ years experience in heavy structures work (drilling, countersinking, fastening doublers, webs, stringers, seat tracks, etc.).

  • Ability to work variable shifts including overtime, weekends, and holidays.


Preferred Qualifications

  • F/A-18 or depot-level aircraft heavy maintenance experience.

  • Experience working with titanium aircraft structures.
