The Lieutenant shall assist the Chief in Department administration. He/she shall exercise such authority and supervision as assigned by the Chief, Public Safety.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (include but not limited to):
  • Maintain awareness of all Security matters and actions of all tours;
  • Supervise the investigation of incidents, communications, preparation and forwarding of written reports;
  • Conduct investigations as directed by the Chief;
  • Review security reports and consult with Sergeants and the Chief to determine priority locations relative to crime conditions;
  • Study deployment of the Force, and make changes where appropriate for more effective coverage;
  • Notify members of the Force through the Dispatcher of scheduled court appearances and other related notifications;
  • Supervise Sergeants, Special Patrolmen/women (Peace Officers), Security Officers and Dispatchers at irregular intervals to ascertain job performance, inspect uniforms, equipment and general appearance of members of the Force;
  • Represent the Chief, Public Safety at community meeting when designated; and
  • Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Associate’s degree in Law Enforcement (Bachelor’s Degree preferred);
  • Minimum 4 years’ experience in supervisory/leadership experience;
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; and
  • Strong time management, organization, planning and customer service skills.
