About Our Practice
Betty Baugh’s Animal Clinic is an AAHA-accredited, well-established small animal practice serving the Richmond community. Our 7-doctor team is collaborative, supportive, and committed to high-quality medicine and exceptional patient care. We take pride in maintaining a positive, team-oriented culture where technicians are valued and fully utilized.
We are currently looking for a Licensed Veterinary Technician who wants to be part of a practice that encourages professional growth, teamwork, and excellent patient care.
Schedule
- 4 ten-hour shifts per week
- Rotating Saturdays (8:00 AM – 1:00 PM) with a weekday half-day
- Hours: Monday–Friday 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM
- Approximately one Saturday rotation every 5–6 weeks
Compensation
$25 – $30 per hour, based on experience.
What You'll Do
Our technicians play a vital role in patient care and are highly utilized throughout the practice. Responsibilities include:
- Anesthesia monitoring and surgical support
- Dentistry and dental prophylaxis
- Diagnostic testing and lab work
- Patient treatments and nursing care
- Assisting with ultrasound and soft tissue procedures
- Client education and communication
We perform 4–5 procedures per day and prioritize quality care. Dentistry is a growing part of our caseload, and technicians are encouraged to develop strong skills in this area.

- IDEXX diagnostics
- Sedivue analyzer
- Ultrasound and advanced diagnostic equipment
- Laser therapy
Our Facility
- 7 exam rooms plus a comfort room
- Dogs and cats only
- Strong assistant team to support technicians
- Doctors typically see 16–25 patients per day
Technicians rotate through different roles to prevent burnout and keep the workday engaging.

Your Impact as a Licensed Veterinary Technician
Note: The Licensed Veterinary Technician title is used in various states based on state-specific licensing and credentialing requirements. Responsibilities may vary depending on the hospital and/or state and will be outlined by the state’s Veterinary Practice Act and/or the responsible veterinarian, where applicable.
- Utilize Your Full Skillset: You'll be a vital part of the medical team, providing comprehensive patient care, including administering treatments, monitoring anesthesia, and performing lab work.
- Be a Leader and Mentor: You’ll guide and support the medical team, ensuring an efficient workflow while mentoring others to help them grow their skills and careers.
- Partner with Clients: You'll be a key point of contact for pet owners, educating them on treatments, reviewing medical records, and confidently answering their questions.
- Contribute to a Positive Culture: You'll play an active role in training, providing feedback, and maintaining the high standards of our hospital environment.
What You'll Bring to the Team
- Graduate of an AVMA-accredited Veterinary Technician program.
- A current state veterinary technician license (LVT) in good standing.
- Proficiency in a range of technical skills, including nursing, surgery, dental care, radiology, and laboratory procedures.
- A calm and efficient approach, especially in fast-paced or stressful situations.
- Strong communication skills and a passion for working collaboratively.
- One year of experience in the veterinary industry is preferred.
