Job Description
The Licensed Practical Nurse (Entry Level or Full Performance) provides high-quality, compassionate care in a healthcare setting. As a Licensed Practical Nurse, you will deliver a full range of practical nursing services, supporting patients and contributing to a safe, patient-centered environment. This role offers the opportunity to work independently while collaborating closely with registered nurses and physicians.
This position is full-time and paid on a salary basis (40 hours a week) paying $32.77-$34.96 per hour with a negotiated working condition differential. Any paid leave (i.e., vacation, sick) will be compensated at a base rate of $27.27/hour for Entry Level and $29.46/hour for Full Performance.
Key Job Duties:
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments, monitor patient responses, and document all care in accordance with established policies.
- Provide direct patient care, including wound care, catheterization, tube feedings, oxygen therapy, and tracheostomy care.
- Monitor and record vital signs, observe patient conditions, and promptly report significant changes to the supervising nurse.
- Assist with diagnostic tests, procedures, and physician-directed treatments.
- Contribute to the development, implementation, and evaluation of individualized patient care plans.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and well-stocked care environment while adhering to infection control and safety standards.
Minimum Education & Experience:
- Completion of an accredited practical nursing program (or equivalent training required for licensure in the State of Hawaii).
- Entry Level: No prior experience required.
- Full Performance: One (1) year of progressively responsible nursing experience in a hospital or similar healthcare setting preferred (or completion of a professional nursing program may substitute for experience).
Required Licensure & Certification:
- Current Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in the State of Hawaii at time of hire.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification required within six (6) months of employment.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Knowledge of practical nursing principles, infection control, and medication administration.
- Ability to assess patient needs, respond effectively in emergencies, and communicate clearly with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
- Strong documentation skills and ability to maintain patient confidentiality.
This position may require rotating shifts.

Pre-Employment Health Requirements
Offers of employment will be contingent on successfully passing a pre-employment examination, which includes a drug screen and other regulatory medical requirements such as, but not limited to, a tuberculosis (TB) screen. The cost for drug screening and blood draw for QuantiFERON and Titers, shall be borne by the Hawaii Health Systems Corporation.
