Schedule:
Mid Shift: 12:30 PM – 9:00 PM
Every Other Weekend (EOW): 9:30 AM – 6:00 PM
Overtime, holidays, and additional weekend hours may be required based on business needs
Position Summary
The Pharmacy Floor Technician supports pharmacy operations by preparing prescription medications for final verification by a licensed pharmacist. This role involves picking, labeling, scanning, and organizing medications to ensure accurate and efficient order fulfillment. The technician plays a key role in maintaining workflow efficiency and ensuring compliance with regulatory and operational standards within a fast-paced pharmacy environment.
Key Responsibilities
Accurately fill daily medication orders under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist
Pick, label, and scan medications to prepare prescriptions for final pharmacist verification
Pull medications from shelving and other medication storage areas, including prepack racks
Apply labels to blister cards and scan products to confirm accuracy
Alert the pharmacist on duty of any medications or products that do not scan properly
Assist in processing returned medications, including recycling or disposal per established procedures
Support prepacking of frequently ordered medications during low-volume periods
Manually package materials and products as required
Maintain clean and organized workstation areas and replenish stock supplies as needed
Follow all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, including HIPAA compliance
Adhere to departmental policies related to safety, attendance, and dress code
Work overtime, holidays, and weekends as required
Perform additional duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent
Active and clear Illinois Pharmacy Technician License issued by the Illinois Board of Pharmacy
Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English
Ability to work efficiently at a moderate pace in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience working as a Pharmacy Technician
Physical Requirements
Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, and stoop intermittently throughout the workday
Ability to sit or stand for extended periods (7–10 hours per shift)
Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally
Manual dexterity required to operate equipment and perform repetitive tasks
Visual acuity needed to read fine print, distinguish colors, and adjust focus
Ability to hear and respond to normal voice communication
