Legal Research Services Manager- Houston A national based law firm located in Houston is seeking a Research Services Manager to join their team. Candidates must have 5+ years of research services experience within a law firm. Candidates must also have management experience. A Juris Doctorate, Masters of Library/Information Science and/or equivalent degree is required. This position offers a hybrid schedule and full benefits. Duties include:

Key Responsibilities

  • Conducts legal and non-legal research, serving as a subject matter expert in industry trends, research methodologies, and information resources.

  • Collaborates with the Director to identify opportunities for process improvement and enhance departmental and firm-wide research resources.

  • Oversees and manages all research requests submitted to the department, ensuring timely and high-quality service delivery.

  • Develops and implements training programs to increase attorneys’ and staff’s awareness, knowledge, and effective use of Research Services resources.

  • Mentors, trains, and supports members of the Research Services team to foster professional development and maintain high performance standards.

  • Assists the Director in developing and executing departmental goals and objectives aligned with the firm’s strategic priorities, policies, and procedures to ensure effective and balanced research support.

  • Establishes performance goals for Research Services team members that align with departmental and firm objectives.

  • Supports the department’s budgeting process, including recommendations for resource investments and expenditures.

  • Collects, analyzes, and reports usage data related to research services to identify trends and recommend service improvements.

  • Develops, reviews, and updates policies and procedures to ensure best practices in responding to research requests.

  • Evaluates and recommends legal and non-legal research tools and resources to support the firm’s information needs.
