Legal Assistant

Pay: $55,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year

Location: This is a full-time, on-site position in Houston, Texas.

Note: Must have prior experience in personal injury litigation support, legal file management, and assisting with discovery, medical records, and case preparation in a law firm setting.

Job Description

• Order and follow up on medical, billing, and radiology records
• Prepare initial disclosures and notice of filing affidavits
• Send discovery to clients and assist with gathering responses and documents
• Communicate with clients regarding treatment, case status, and outstanding items
• Help track client medical treatment and maintain updated case information
• Save and organize e-filing notifications and case documents
• Keep physical and electronic files organized and up to date
• Assist paralegals and attorneys with preparation for mediations, depositions, and trial
• Support overall case progression by handling litigation support tasks accurately and efficiently
• Assist with additional case-related and administrative duties as needed

Qualifications

• 2+ years of legal assistant, junior paralegal, or litigation support experience preferred
• Personal injury experience strongly preferred
• Experience ordering medical, billing, and radiology records
• Familiarity with initial disclosures, affidavit filings, and litigation file organization
• Strong attention to detail and follow-through
• Comfortable communicating with clients in a professional and empathetic manner
• Able to work on-site in Houston, Texas
• Organized, proactive, and able to manage multiple moving parts in a busy practice
