Key Responsibilities of the Lease Accountant
• Manage lease accounting activities (ASC 842) and maintain related schedules and supporting documentation
• Assist with accounting and reporting for leases in accordance with applicable standards
• Prepare journal entries, reconciliations, and monthly supporting schedules
• Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close related to lease activity
• Analyze lease agreements and ensure accurate financial statement presentation
• Partner with the accounting team to support reporting requirements and compliance
Qualifications for the Lease Accountant
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required (Finance considered with strong accounting background)
• 2–3 years of accounting experience preferred
• Exposure to lease accounting standards ASC 842 or GASB 87, GASB 96 strongly preferred
• Strong understanding of financial statements and general ledger accounting
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational and analytical skills
