Senior Accountant – Lease Accounting

Overview

A growing, multi-location organization in the healthcare services space is seeking a Senior Accountant with strong lease accounting experience to join its corporate accounting team. This role plays a key part in month-end close and owns the accounting lifecycle for operating leases under ASC 842.

The position offers a hybrid schedule, with flexibility depending on workload and timing.

This is an individual contributor role with visibility across the business and opportunities to handle complex accounting matters in a fast-paced environment.


What You’ll Do

  • Own lease accounting activities throughout the full lifecycle, including new leases, amendments, remeasurements, terminations, and impairments
  • Prepare and review monthly journal entries and reconciliations related to lease activity
  • Review recurring lease payments and support timely, accurate processing
  • Analyze landlord statements and perform audits related to CAM, utilities, real estate taxes, and other pass-through charges
  • Serve as the accounting subject-matter expert for the lease system and act as system administrator from the accounting side
  • Partner cross-functionally with finance, legal, operations, and real estate teams on business initiatives and new site openings
  • Support financial reporting by preparing lease-related disclosures, schedules, and analyses
  • Research and apply relevant accounting guidance, including ASC 842 and other technical standards as needed
  • Provide day-to-day guidance and review support for junior lease accounting staff (no direct people management)

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong general accounting foundation with hands-on lease accounting experience
  • Comfortable operating in a deadline-driven, high-volume environment
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Confident communicator who can partner effectively across teams

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • Solid understanding of GAAP, with demonstrated experience applying ASC 842
  • Experience working with multi-entity or consolidated environments

Nice to Have:

  • CPA (preferred but not required)
  • Background in public accounting or high-growth environments
  • Experience with SOX documentation or internal controls
  • Exposure to lease accounting software and large ERP systems
  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, complex formulas)

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary: $90,000 – $100,000
