The Learning and Development Specialist is responsible for designing, delivering, and administering training programs, assisting in managing the organizations learning management system, producing internal communications, and supporting policy and knowledge management initiatives. This role partners with all employees including supervisors, leadership and external stakeholders to ensure effective onboarding, professional development, and community- focused training programs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Administer and maintain the Learning Management System (LMS), including user management, training invitations, content uploads, webinar recordings, and knowledgebase updates.
- Facilitate hands-on, on-the-job task training for new and current staff.
- Develop and evaluate training programs.
- Coordinate all logistical aspects of training programs, including supervisor and trainee communications, scheduling, room and technology setup, participant check-ins, and session adjustments based on feedback.
- Plan and execute Community Forward Training initiatives, including coordinating industry invitations, development of promotional materials and flyers, organizing speakers and topics, managing day-of logistics, and conducting follow-up communications.
- Write, edit, publish, and archive organizational newsletters; develop engaging content to support employee communication and learning initiatives.
- Draft, update, and maintain organizational policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with supervisors and leadership to assess training needs, align learning objectives, and support employee development initiatives.
- Monitor participation and engagement metrics to support continuous improvement of training and communication programs.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in education, Communications, Human Resources, Organizational Development, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum two (2) to three (3) years' experience preferred.
- Experience facilitating training sessions and group learning.
- Experience with LMS required.
- Task training skills required.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to coordinate multiple projects and manage logistics.
- Must possess a high level of confidentiality and exercise independent judgment
- Basic accounting knowledge a plus, not required
Physical Demands:
- Employee may occasionally be required to lift or move items over 10 lbs.
