Lead Machinist (Milling & Lathe)

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM (Overtime as needed)
Salary: $75,000 – $85,000 (DOE)

We are seeking an experienced Lead Machinist with strong milling and lathe expertise to join our team in a direct hire capacity.

This is a newly created role offering a unique opportunity to take full ownership of machining operations. This position will operate as a one-person department initially, making it ideal for a highly skilled professional who thrives in an independent environment and takes pride in precision, organization, and accountability.

• Set up, operate, and maintain CNC and/or manual milling machines and lathes

• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications

• Independently manage incoming jobs, prioritize workflow, and meet deadlines

• Perform quality inspections using precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, gauges, etc.)

• Troubleshoot machining issues and make adjustments as needed

• Maintain equipment and ensure optimal machine performance

• Establish and improve processes, workflows, and best practices

• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workspace

• 5 years of machining experience (milling and lathe required)

• CNC setup and operation experience strongly preferred

• Previous lead or supervisory experience is a plus

• Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints

• High attention to detail and commitment to quality

• Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision

• Strong problem-solving and mechanical aptitude

• Valid Connecticut driver's license and reliable transportation

• A self-starter who can confidently run a machining function independently
