Landfill Gas Technician – Oakdale, LA
Schedule: 100% outdoor role • Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–5:00 PM • On‑call nights & weekends
Waste Connections is seeking a hands‑on, safety‑focused Landfill Gas Technician to join our team in Oakdale, LA. This role is fully outdoors and requires working in all weather conditions. You’ll be part of a small, skilled team responsible for maintaining and optimizing the landfill gas collection and control system (GCCS) that supports safe and compliant landfill operations.
Key Responsibilities
Install, repair, and maintain landfill gas system components in the field
Pull, clean, and service pumps according to the preventive maintenance schedule
Perform well‑field valve and vacuum adjustments to ensure proper system performance
Run and fuse poly pipe as needed for system expansions or repairs
Calibrate, operate, and maintain electronic monitoring and data‑collection equipment
Respond to after‑hours GCCS alarms or malfunctions on an on‑call rotation
Complete additional duties as assigned to support landfill operations
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
Work is performed entirely outdoors, year‑round, in all weather conditions
Frequent exposure to dirt, odors, uneven terrain, and other landfill‑related elements
Requires strenuous physical activity, including lifting, pushing, and pulling items over 50 lbs.
Regular walking, bending, climbing, and working on slopes or rough ground
Requires attention to detail, taking extensive notes and effectively communicating with supervisor.
