JOB SUMMARY: The Laboratory Assistant supports scientific research activities by assisting with routine laboratory operations and data handling tasks under supervision. This role involves working in both laboratory and greenhouse environments, performing sample processing, molecular biology techniques, and maintaining inventory while adhering to safety and operational standards. Key Responsibilities: Assist in general laboratory operations following prescribed methods and training Perform plant sampling and support greenhouse-related activities Conduct DNA extraction and high-throughput PCR processes Manage and maintain laboratory inventory Utilize basic computer tools such as Microsoft Excel for data handling Follow standard operating procedures and maintain accurate documentation Ensure compliance with Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) standards Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times Collaborate with team members and communicate results effectively Required Qualifications: Familiarity with laboratory techniques such as DNA extraction and PCR Minimum 1+ year of experience in a research laboratory environment Basic computer skills including Microsoft Excel Strong written and verbal communication skills Good organizational skills with attention to detail Ability to follow SOPs and safety protocols Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, or related science field (or currently pursuing with relevant lab experience) Education: Bachelors Degree
