ROLE IMPACT
The Labor Cost & Profitability Specialist ensures accurate pricing and margin performance by translating operational inputs-especially labor-into reliable cost models. This role connects industrial engineering principles with financial analysis to identify cost drivers, validate assumptions, and support data-driven commercial decisions. Success is defined by improved cost transparency, aligned operational standards, and measurable margin optimization across production, planning, and pricing functions.
Key Responsibilities
* Analyze labor, material, and process data to build and maintain cost models that reflect actual production practices
* Support pricing and margin decisions by linking customer requirements to operational assumptions and financial outcomes (ROI, make-vs-buy, scenario analysis)
* Partner with Industrial Engineering and Operations to validate labor standards, identify inefficiencies, and align costing with continuous improvement initiatives
* Conduct customer profitability analyses by comparing productivity metrics to financial results and highlighting performance gaps
* Standardize costing methodologies through documentation, benchmarking, and control measures to improve consistency and transparency
* Provide timely, accurate responses to cross-functional inquiries related to labor allocation, cost drivers, and pricing logic
Minimum Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Finance, Business Analytics, or related field
* 3+ years of experience in labor costing, operations analysis, process improvement, or related analytical role
* Advanced Excel skills with experience analyzing operational data and building financial or cost models
Core Tools & Systems
* Microsoft Excel (advanced formulas, data analysis, modeling)
* ERP/MRP systems (SAP preferred)
* Cost modeling and financial forecasting tools
* Time and motion study methodologies (e.g., Methods-Time Measurement - MTM)
* Data visualization or business intelligence tools (e.g., Power BI or similar)
Preferred Skills
* Experience in manufacturing, production, food service, or high-volume operations environments
* Strong stakeholder communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
* Self-starter with project coordination experience and ability to travel up to 25%
