Lab Technician

Aptask Global Workforce (AGW) is seeking a Lab Technician for an onsite position with a Pharmaceutical Company located in De Soto, KS. This is a 12+ month contract opportunity.

Summary:
The primary purpose of this position is to perform routine basic and midlevel laboratory procedures with minimal guidance for the testing of veterinary biologicals according to strict government and company imposed regulations and guidelines. This role requires an understanding of the principles underlying the testing procedures used in the areas of assignment, as well as a basic understanding of the material being evaluated such as viruses, bacteria, and cell lines.

Responsibilities:

• Perform routine basic and midlevel laboratory procedures with minimal guidance
• Responsible for preparation, sterilization, and maintenance of media, solutions, glassware, and equipment
• Manage the receipt, coordination, and distribution of incoming lab testing materials including all test samples
• Handle the shipment of test samples to other sites and regulatory agencies under strict conditions
• Perform routine quality control procedures including environmental monitoring observations
• Enter test results in the appropriate tracking system and evaluate test dispositions
• Report all unusual, non-routine occurrences to QC Management and complete necessary documentation
• Prepare and qualify test reagents, supplies, solutions, and media
• Participate in the creation and revision of SOPs, test methods, and test worksheets
• Troubleshoot basic and midlevel test methods with limited guidance
• Conduct peer record reviews

Requirements:

• Minimum qualification: HS Diploma/GED
• Preferred: Bachelor's degree in a related field with no experience, an Associate degree in a related field with 2 or more years of experience, or a high school diploma/equivalency with at least 5 years of relevant experience
• Familiarity with basic to moderately complex laboratory techniques and procedures
• General knowledge in the areas of biology and chemistry
• A high level of organization, tact, and patience
• Ability to work independently or in a team atmosphere with minimal supervision
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions
• Ability to handle large amounts of detailed work and manage several projects at one time
• Good mathematics and writing skills
• Physical ability to lift and move material up to 25 lbs
• Proficiency with the MS Office suite

Pay range: up to $21.44 per Hour
