Job Title: Lab Technologist I
Location: Pittsburgh, PA 15275
Pay Rate: $20.00 - $21.00 / hr 
Work Schedule: 40 hours per week, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM

  • Schedule Option 1: Monday – Friday

  • Schedule Option 2: Tuesday – Saturday
     

Job Overview

The Lab Technologist I performs clinical laboratory testing and analysis to support the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease. This role operates within a clinical and research laboratory environment and is responsible for specimen preparation, analysis, documentation, and equipment maintenance while adhering to laboratory safety and quality standards.


Job Responsibilities

  • Prepare specimens for analysis and organize required testing

  • Prepare and properly label reagents for laboratory testing

  • Conduct analysis of dried blood spots and body fluids to identify normal and abnormal components

  • Review test results, maintain accurate work records, and enter findings into laboratory information systems

  • Perform routine preventative maintenance on laboratory instruments

  • Verify proper instrument function through calibration and documentation

  • Record repairs, replacements, and maintenance activities in instrument logs

  • Follow all laboratory safety policies and procedures

  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a physical science (Chemistry, Biology, Molecular Biology, Medical Technology, or related field)

  • 0–1 year of clinical laboratory experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Mass Spectrometry experience

  • Immunology experience

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Clinical and research laboratory setting

  • Exposure to bloodborne pathogens

  • Required use of protective lab gear (lab coat, gloves, closed-toe footwear)

  • Primarily seated work with occasional movement throughout lab

  • Manual dexterity required for lab equipment operation

  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs

  • Weekend rotation may be required

  • No travel required
