JOB OPENING ANNOUNCEMENT

Position Title: Juvenile Intake and Assessment Worker; 9th Judicial District

Department: Community Corrections, McPherson and Harvey County Offices (1 position in each county).

Position Summary: JIA Worker is an on-call position that processes youth at the law enforcement center for various criminal behaviors or youth deemed to be a child in need of care. This position requires a person to complete an intake process that includes gathering information from the youth, law enforcement officers and family members and accurately entering the information in a database. The position requires coordinating a placement for the youth based on assessed needs and the recommendations of the county attorney.

The JIA worker will be available for 12 hours shifts Monday through Friday and at least one weekend per month. The JIA worker is paid for the on-call shift whether they are required to report to the law enforcement center to complete an intake or not during their 12 hour shift. The youth that are processed through Juvenile Intake and Assessment can be brought in by law enforcement or through a scheduled appointment.

The JIA Worker must be available during their 12 hour shift to report to the law enforcement office within 30 minutes of receiving a phone call instructing them that they are needed.

The JIA Worker must be able to work in a respectful manner with all community partners. They must be able to take directions and present concise information regarding the youth to the county attorney and community partners. Additionally, the JIA Worker must be able to accurately enter information into a database. The JIA Worker will be part of a team that works together to cover all shifts.

This position works independently under the general supervision of the Harvey/McPherson Counties Community Corrections (HMCCC) Deputy Director. Strict standards defined by legislation, agency policies and procedures, and the Kansas Department of Corrections/Juvenile Services must be met.

Salary Range: $500.00 or $237.69 per pay period (changes with weekday shifts and weekend shifts.)

Hours: 6:00 am – 6:00 pm or 6:00 pm to 6:00 am M-F with 1-2 full weekends per month.
