Junior Accountant
We are seeking a detail-oriented Junior Accountant to join our team. This role will support payroll and accounts payable functions while assisting with general ledger analysis and other accounting activities. The ideal candidate is analytical, organized, and comfortable working in a collaborative office environment.
Responsibilities
Prepare general ledger journal entries and perform account analysis
Conduct payroll analysis and labor distribution variance analysis
Enter and maintain labor distribution codes in the general ledger
Provide administrative and transactional support to the Accounts Payable function
Reconcile personal allowance and petty cash accounts; replenish funds as needed
Assist with bank reconciliations
Support fixed asset and investment tracking
Perform additional accounting and administrative duties to support the organization’s mission
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance preferred
3+ years of general accounting experience, preferably within a nonprofit organization
Experience with general ledger and bank reconciliations
Prior payroll experience required (Paycom preferred)
Understanding of fixed assets and investments
Knowledge of Social Security and SSI benefits management is a plus
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Intermediate proficiency in Excel, Word, and Outlook
Experience with accounting systems (Intacct and QuickBooks preferred)
