About the Opportunity

A lower middle-market buy-side investment firm (representative of firms within our network) may seek a Junior Buy-Side Analyst to support senior investment professionals across deal evaluation, financial analysis, diligence, and portfolio monitoring.

This role is designed for candidates at the start of their buy-side careers, offering hands-on exposure to live investments, direct interaction with experienced investors, and a steep learning curve within a lean investment team.


Day-to-Day Responsibilities

Investment Analysis & Financial Modeling

  • Build and maintain financial and operating models, including 3-statement models, DCFs, and LBOs (as applicable)

  • Analyze investment returns, capital structures, and downside scenarios

  • Support valuation analyses using comparable companies, precedent transactions, and intrinsic valuation methods

  • Assist in screening and evaluating new buy-side investment opportunities

Due Diligence & Market Research

  • Support diligence efforts across financial, commercial, operational, and legal workstreams

  • Analyze historical performance, forecasts, KPIs, and unit economics

  • Conduct industry, market, and competitive research to inform investment theses

  • Organize and synthesize diligence findings into clear analytical summaries

Investment Committee & Deal Support

  • Prepare investment memos, analysis exhibits, and presentation materials

  • Summarize risks, opportunities, and key diligence insights

  • Support internal discussions and decision-making processes

  • Assist with transaction execution from initial review through closing

Portfolio Monitoring & Ongoing Support

  • Assist with portfolio company performance tracking and reporting

  • Help maintain KPI dashboards and monitoring tools

  • Support analysis related to add-on investments, refinancings, and exit planning

  • Provide ad hoc analytical support to senior investment team members

Education & Technical Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field

  • Strong Excel skills with the ability to build or audit financial models

  • Solid foundational understanding of accounting, corporate finance, and valuation

Experience (Formal or Informal)

  • Prior internships or entry-level experience in investment banking, private equity, private credit, consulting, asset management, or corporate finance is beneficial

  • Demonstrated interest in investing, financial analysis, and buy-side work
