Job Description:

The State University Construction Fund (the "Fund") is currently seeking a Junior Accountant to join our Controller's Services team at our office in Albany, NY.

The Junior Accountant is responsible for the detailed desk audit in connection with the processing of consultant and contractor requests for payment.  The audit of each request for payment is performed in such a way as to preclude the possibility of duplicate payment for work performed and to insure that payment for work performed is in conformance with the terms of the contract agreement and SUCF Policies, Guidelines, and Bulletins.

Specific Duties & Functions;

  • Complete the audit of consultant and contractor payments accurately and timely, in accordance with office procedures.
  • Monitor that vendors are in compliance with contract payment provisions through Desk Reviews.
  • Perform data analytics and reconciliations to ensure data accuracy and consistency within and between applications.
  • Prepare and process payment adjustments (refunds, credit memos, debit memos) in accordance with office procedures.
  • Process miscellaneous transactions, which may include OGS and DOL payments.
  • Assist in the development, testing, and maintenance of payment processing and related systems.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of office procedures.
  • Assist in the cross-training of staff within the unit as needed.
  • Provide effective and courteous verbal and written communication with outside vendors, other agency personnel, SUCF staff.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as directed. 

 


Requirements:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance or a related field or an Associate's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance or a related field plus a minimum of two years relevant experience. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information in a clear and concise format. 
  • Strong organizational skills and an attention to detail.   
  • Strong accounting and information technology skills, including Microsoft Office applications.

 


Additional Information:

Salary range: $63,136 - $76,359 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications.

We offer a competitive salary and excellent benefits package, including immediate participation in the NYS and Local Retirement System (NYSLRS) with vesting after 5 years of service, Health Insurance (including Prescription, Dental, and Vision), vacation, sick, and personal time, 13 paid Federal holidays, paid parental leave, and telecommuting.

Note on Telecommuting:  After six months of employment, employees are eligible to apply and obtain approval through management to telecommute a limited number of days, according to the Fund's Telecommuting Program Guidelines.
