The Working Journeyman Electrician is responsible for performing skilled service work on commercial electrical systems. This role combines expert hands-on installation with leadership in supporting apprentices and contributing to efficiency. The ideal candidate is proficient in interpreting blueprints, troubleshooting and maintaining electrical systems per NEC standards, and maintaining safety and quality on site

Responsibilities:

• Service Calls: Drive to assigned service locations to perform electrical service calls, including troubleshooting, 
repairs, installations, and maintenance in commercial settings 
• Involvement and support in special projects as needed 
• Leadership: Lead and supervise Service Technician Helpers or apprentices assigned to your team, providing 
guidance and support as necessary to complete tasks efficiently and safely 
• Safety Compliance: Prioritize safety during all service calls, ensuring that you and your team follow 
established safety protocols, use appropriate personal protective equipment, and maintain a safe work 
environment 
• Utilize your electrical expertise to diagnose electrical issues accurately and provide effective solutions. Ensure 
all work complies with relevant electrical codes and regulations 
• Documentation: Accurately document all work completed, including service reports, invoices, and any 
relevant paperwork associated with electrical projects 
• Customer Interaction: Interact professionally with clients, addressing their inquiries and concerns. Provide 
excellent customer service, building positive relationships 
• Equipment and Inventory: Oversee the proper handling, organization, and maintenance of tools, materials, 
and equipment used during service calls 
• Team Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with team members, including Service Technician Helpers and 
other electricians, to ensure projects are executed efficiently and on schedule 
• Continuous Learning: Stay updated on industry trends, electrical codes, and emerging technologies to 
enhance your skills and knowledge 
• Be willing to participate in an on-call rotation as scheduled by the Service Department needs

Physical Requirements

(These requirements ensure you can perform essential duties safely and effectively.)

  • Stamina – Ability to work long hours, frequently standing, bending, or kneeling for extended periods.
  • Strength & Dexterity – Must lift 50+ lbs and have the upper body strength and manual dexterity to handle tools, wiring, and heavy materials.
  • Flexibility – Capable of working in tight spaces, elevated areas, and awkward positions.
  • Vision – Excellent vision, including color perception, to accurately identify wires and components.
  • Coordination & Balance – Strong hand-eye coordination and balance for precise work on ladders, scaffolding, or elevated platforms.
  • Other Requirements – Must be able to handle a physical workload, possess personal tools, and have a clean MVR history.
