About Vixio:
Vixio is a Regulatory Technology (RegTech) company, and a trusted source of independent regulatory
intelligence for professionals in highly regulated industries undergoing rapid and radical change.
We're trusted by leading brands to deliver comprehensive, time-sensitive, and actionable intelligence
on payments, financial services and gambling compliance, covering more than 180 jurisdictions
globally, so they can stay ahead of regulatory change, mitigate risk and capitalise on new
opportunities.
The Role:
Based in the US, you will be joining a team of journalists covering the regulatory and compliance
landscape in the global gambling industry, contributing long-form content, as well as insights and
analysis to the GamblingCompliance solution and platform. This role also involves collaborating
closely with other departments such as regulatory analysis, market data and commercial teams,
leveraging Vixio's proprietary, AI-enabled regulatory and market data, spotting trends and bringing
them to light through unique analysis and insights.
Understanding the enduring value of independent journalism as part of a broader regulatory intelligence service, Vixio's editorial strategy in covering gambling regulation and policy is not to cover
'news' but to dive deeper and identify key trends and unexplored angles to directly inform the thinking
of senior industry leaders, including lawyers and legal experts, c-suite executives, and regulators
themselves.
In this role you will be expected to consider the most innovative ways of presenting high-level analysis
to a sophisticated audience, using new formats developed by Vixio's established editorial team but
also thinking of new ones.
Reporting to Vixio's Managing Editor, you will be expected to produce approximately 3 to 4 unique
pieces of analysis each week, with an emphasis on value-added insights. While most of these pieces of
analysis will be focused on regulatory trends and developments in North and Latin America (primarily online gambling, sports betting and emerging verticals including prediction markets - although
covering other sectors as well), you will also collaborate with other colleagues to apply a global lens to
policy developments, where appropriate.
Background:
You are ambitious, and curious to seek the truth and uncover the key stories and trends impacting the
fast changing gambling market. You are persistent and tenacious and won't give up at the first sign of
a challenge. In addition to being a natural storyteller, you can write investigative articles, feature
stories and longer, more analytical pieces. You are always eager to follow-up on developments with
fresh angles and enquire about the impact and consequences of news developments. Presenting
information or analysis that is totally unique motives you. Alongside a commitment to produce a range
of written content, you are also excited and motivated to deliver the content through multiple
channels like audio, video, panels and webinars. To succeed in this role, you are self-motivated and
have exceptional written and verbal communication skills. You are also eager to cover new topics or
jurisdictions, and willing to think creatively about how to gather additional information and
commentary on complex subjects.
Key Responsibilities:
Assessing leads and pitching relevant/compelling story and longer-form report ideas to
Editors
Participating in, and leading where appropriate, broader editorial discussions around
trends and coverage ideas
Collaborating with colleagues in the editorial team and beyond to develop new article
formats or other ways of presenting analysis and information, beyond the confines of a
traditional 'news' article
Preparing and submitting work that is ready for editorial approval and within deadlines
Researching and writing reflective and forward-looking insights/reports, analysing data
and information from multiple sources, identifying trends and producing
unique/commercially viable content. Ensuring written work is clear, concise and factual
Adhering to the editorial standards and guidelines
Documenting and sharing notes and insights gleaned from interviews, events and sources
with the editorial team and the wider business
Cultivating a quality network of sources such as regulators, industry experts and lawyers
Creating trustworthy relationships with contacts and sources for use in new research
Staying abreast of industry trends and latest developments by attending events and
conferences, proactively speaking with sources, scanning social media and reading
relevant publications
Representing Vixio at third-party events and on webinars and podcasts, and having a
working knowledge of the broader gambling compliance landscape. Developing expertise
in key topical areas and jurisdictions
