Java Developer

IDR is seeking a Java Developer to join one of our top clients for an opportunity in Texas. This role involves supporting application understanding, code analysis, and modernization initiatives within a highly regulated industry such as oil & gas, healthcare, or the public sector. The candidate will work closely with business analysts to translate technical details into functional requirements, especially when working with legacy Java applications.

Position Overview for the Java Developer:

• Analyze existing Java applications to understand business logic, workflows, and system behavior
• Review source code to identify business rules, data flows, and integration points
• Collaborate with Business Analysts to explain technical functionality in business terms and validate requirements
• Document findings including functional specifications, process flows, and data mappings
• Support application modernization efforts by identifying reusable logic and dependencies

Requirements for the Java Developer:

• Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in computer science or related field
• At least four years of experience in software development using Java, including Core Java, Spring/Spring Boot, REST APIs, Struts, EJB, and other Java EE design patterns
• Experience with SQL databases such as Oracle or SQL Server and version control systems like Git
• Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues, demonstrating strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Availability to support code deployments and application support during nights and weekends
