Janitorial (Lead Porter) - Part Time

Urgently hiring for a Lead Porter position in Hackensack at the Bergen County Shelter. Ideal candidates must be friendly, be a self-starter, and able to provide direction to other porters. The lead porter will be responsible for overseeing porters who are performing a variety of janitorial tasks to ensure occupants a clean and safe environment. This is a working porter position, not just supervisory.

SHIFT: Wednesday (8:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.) and Saturday (8:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.)

Essential Job Duties:

1. Cleans and maintains cleanliness of offices and lobby floors, windows, doors and walls.

2. Cleans and maintains cleanliness of restrooms; includes floors, sinks, counters, commodes and fixtures.

3. Clean and maintains cleanliness of elevators and/or stairwells.

4. Monitor the interior and exterior of the building and grounds during the day to make certain the grounds and common areas are free of debris.

5. Empty garbage containers in common areas, offices, classrooms and restrooms ensuring general areas are free of litter.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Minimum 2 years previous janitorial experience.
• Minimum 1 year supervisory experience.
• Ability to handle multiple projects.
• May perform other duties as assigned.
• MUST have reliable transportation to and from the work site.
