(Includes Detachment Norco and Detachment Fallbrook as assigned)

Employment Type: Full‑Time

Schedule: Day shift, year‑round

SCA Rate $21.45/hr H&W $5.09

Job Summary

The Irrigation Technician is responsible for operating, inspecting, troubleshooting, and maintaining irrigation systems to ensure healthy landscaped areas while supporting water conservation requirements.

Duties/Responsibilities

• Operate, inspect, and maintain irrigation systems to support healthy landscapes.
• Troubleshoot system issues and perform routine maintenance and minor repairs.
• Support water conservation efforts and efficient irrigation practices.
• Document work is performed and communicate system issues to supervision.
• Follow site safety, access, and operational procedures.

Required Skills/Abilities

• U.S. Citizenship.
• Ability to obtain and maintain base access.
• Ability to submit to and successfully pass a pre‑employment drug test and background check.
• Valid state driver's license.
• Working knowledge of irrigation controllers, valves, solenoids, pumps, and sprinkler heads.
• Ability to diagnose and repair common irrigation system problems.
• Basic mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to work outdoors in varied weather conditions.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Two years of experience within the past five years working with commercial irrigation systems.

Physical & Work Requirements

• Regular walking, bending, kneeling, and lifting irrigation tools and materials.
• Outdoor work in landscaped and developed areas.
• Must be able to work safely around buildings, roads, and active facilities.
