Key Responsibilities

  • Draft and prosecute U.S. and international patent applications primarily in electrical engineering–related technologies
  • Respond to Office Actions, conduct examiner interviews, and develop prosecution strategies
  • Advise clients on patentability, freedom‑to‑operate, and portfolio development for EE‑focused innovations
  • Manage domestic and international patent portfolios, including coordination with foreign counsel
  • Conduct prior art analyses and prepare patentability and clearance opinions
  • Collaborate with cross‑practice teams on IP matters tied to broader commercial or regulatory issues
  • Maintain direct client contact and contribute to client relationship development

Required Qualifications

  • 4+ years of patent prosecution experience at a law firm or in‑house
  • USPTO registration required
  • J.D. from an accredited law school and admission to TX Bar
  • Electrical engineering degree or equivalent technical background
  • Experience drafting and prosecuting patents involving technologies such as semiconductors, power systems, telecommunications, signal processing, hardware, or embedded systems
  • Ability to independently manage patent prosecution matters from drafting through allowance
  • Strong technical writing, analytical, and communication skills
