Monte Rosa Therapeutics is seeking passionate Intern Research Associates for 6 months to help us to eliminate disease causing proteins through targeted protein degradation – a novel and exciting approach to drugging proteins that until recently were considered un-druggable. The candidates will gain hands-on experience within an early-stage drug discovery environment. You will work with an industry leader who will direct and mentor you on your project, expose you to other drug discovery projects, and involve you in the process of solving complex biological questions. You will be joining a diverse, thoughtful, fun and collaborative environment that emphasizes teamwork and putting people first!
Responsibilities:- Assist in developing a new cellular assay to investigate cereblon-degradation of proteins in their native cellular context, based on NanoLuc luciferase technology (Promega).
- Be directly involved in experimental design, execution, and data analysis, gaining hands-on experience in testing parameters, troubleshooting performance, and making data-driven decisions.
- Validate the assay across a variety cell lines using orthogonal methods.
- As the assay matures, the intern will contribute to adapting it for higher-throughput (HT) formats, providing practical exposure to assay miniaturization, automation-compatible workflows, and high-throughput screening.
- Perform cell culture across a variety of lines, develop preparations for HT cell assay applications.
- Our preference is for a student currently in a Master degree program in Cell Biology, molecular biology, or a life science.
- Strong desire to learn cutting-edge approaches to drug discovery.
- Documented experience with molecular biology/biochemical techniques (e.g., ELISAs, Western Blot, PCR, luminescence assays, vector design, sequencing analysis).
- Cell culture experience (mammalian cell culture): transient transfection, lentiviral transduction, CRISPR technology.
- Previous experience with lab automation, liquid handlers / plate readers in 384 well format.
- Enjoys working in a team-based environment.
