Summer Internship opportunities are available to students only. To be eligible for a summer internship, students must be graduating after August 7, 2026 or continuing their education.

The Summer Internship begins on May 18, 2026  and ends on August 7, 2026.

 
Internship Description:
To provide a college engineering student the opportunity to apply the theory learned in the university setting to real-world situations and to establish a relationship w/ a college student that may join the Bureau in the capacity of an ERP reviewer in the future.

Internship to include the following:
  • Perform hydrology and hydraulic calculations.
  • Perform water quality calculations.
  • Shadow a senior engineer in reviewing permit applications and engineering plans.
  • Assist Bureau with administrative tasks, project documentation, scanning and filing.
  • Participate in team meetings.
  • Assist with field work for data collection, site inspections and observations.
  • Observe and attend meetings with project shareholders. 

Education/Experience Guide:
Achieved classification as a college level Junior or above in a related degree program at a college or university accredited by a recognized national or regional accreditation association. Must have coursework relevant to the position being accepted and no experience is required. The student must have a 3.0 average or higher and maintain an average grade of B or above in all major fields of study.
  
Undergraduate level interns will be paid $17/hour and work a maximum of 32 hours per week for a maximum  internship duration of 4 months.

Graduate and Doctoral level interns will be paid $19/hour and work a maximum of 32 hours per week for a maximum  internship duration of 4 months.

License(s) / Certification(s): 
A valid State of Florida Driver’s License is not required.  

No professional licensure is required for this position.

Interns are not authorized to drive District vehicles, operate District boats, ATVs, forklifts, or any heavy equipment.
