Job Description

We are seeking an Integrated Operations Technician to support the Pet department meat rooms with a focus on grinding, dicing, handling, and processing raw and cooked meat. The role operates in air-conditioned raw and cooked meat rooms and will perform equipment setup, operation, sanitation, and disassembly for the Pet platform and other platforms as needed. Environments may contain various odors.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate mixing, grinding, and related processing equipment safely while meeting food safety requirements and performing risk assessments.
  • Execute basic analytical tests, including operator quality checks, moisture content via NIR, and temperature readings with a thermometer.
  • Troubleshoot basic equipment issues and build skills on unit operations.
  • Perform equipment sanitation and basic equipment setup activities following COHE procedures using hand tools and work instructions.
  • Flex across teams within and beyond the Pet platform based on shifting work needs.
  • Apply basic technical knowledge of product, process, and packaging to meet production standards.
  • Consistently lift, manipulate, and transport ingredients or equipment up to 55 lbs.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • High school diploma required; 3-5 years of directly related experience and/or a 2-year degree preferred.
  • Ability to lift, manipulate, and transport up to 55 lbs repeatedly.
  • Steel toe boots/shoes required; ability to wear required PPE including masks, safety glasses, hearing protection, hard hat, hair/beard net, and gloves.
  • Basic computer and technology skills, including Office Suite and other programs.
  • Strong communication skills with peers and customers.
  • Basic understanding of food safety, human safety, and Good Manufacturing Practices.
  • Ability to work in hot, warm, and cool plant conditions and around equipment with possible electromagnetic interference.
  • Willingness to use powered lifts such as stackers and pallet jacks and work around industrial high-speed moving machinery.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in meat processing operations, including grinding, dicing, and mixing.
  • Familiarity with COHE procedures and basic mechanical assembly using hand tools.

Schedule:

This position is scheduled five days per week, 8 hours per day from 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Actual days, start times, and end times may change based on business needs.

  • With advance notification, the employee may flex to a different shift or hours based on evolving needs.
  • May require up to 4 hours of overtime before or after the assigned shift and occasional 8-12 hour weekend support.

Physical and Other Requirements:

  • Perform physical tasks for extended periods, including standing, walking, climbing, bending, pushing, pulling, and twisting over surfaces.
  • Ability to lift, manipulate, and transport up to 55 lbs consistently and repeatedly.
  • Ability to work in hot, warm, and cool environments within the plant and in areas with various odors.
  • Adherence to all safety standards and Good Manufacturing Practices to ensure food safety.
  • This position involves potential exposure to common allergens including milk, eggs, fish, shellfish, tree nuts, peanuts, wheat, soybeans, and sesame.
