Job Details
We are seeking a senior‑level Insurance Litigation Special Counsel (off‑track) to join a sophisticated litigation practice handling complex insurance and reinsurance disputes. This role is ideal for an experienced litigator who enjoys substantive advocacy, increasing responsibility, and developing deep trial and arbitration experience.
The position offers meaningful ownership of matters, exposure to high‑stakes disputes, and the opportunity to work across all phases of litigation, with a particular emphasis on pretrial, arbitration, and trial preparation.
What You’ll Do
Handle complex insurance and reinsurance disputes through all stages of litigation and arbitration
Draft sophisticated pleadings, motions, and written submissions
Prepare fact and expert witnesses for deposition, arbitration, and trial
Manage and conduct expert discovery and trial preparation
Participate in arbitration proceedings and develop advocacy skills in arbitral forums
Work closely with team members to drive strategy and deliver results for demanding clients
Take on increasing responsibility in managing matters and shaping case strategy
What We’re Looking For
JD or LLM from an ABA‑accredited law school
Admitted or eligible for admission in New York, Washington, DC, or Massachusetts
7+ years of complex litigation experience
Experience with insurance and/or reinsurance disputes preferred
Interest in arbitration and trial practice
Strong legal writing, analytical, and oral advocacy skills
Professionalism and confidence working with sophisticated clients
Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast‑paced environment
Highly organized, detail‑oriented, and collaborative team player
