Insurance Bad Faith Defense Attorney

The successful candidate will be an insurance litigation attorney supporting the organization in handling and managing the defense of insurance extra-contractual liability or “bad faith” civil lawsuits. 

You will

• Develop and execute litigation strategy for extra-contractual liability lawsuits

• Advise claims management on the legal implications of proposed actions and certain claims handling practices

• Manage outside defense counsel for extra-contractual liability lawsuits

• Take and defend depositions 

• Attend mediations, hearings and trials

• Collaborate and communicate with executives and business units regarding legal, compliance and business developments

• Build strong relationships with internal business partners and work as part of cross-functional teams across all levels of the organization

Qualifications

• 5+ years of law firm or in-house experience with a focus on insurance litigation matters

• Current member of the California State Bar

• Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school

• Ability to analyze insurance contracts (primarily personal lines casualty and property), and applicability of relevant law

• Ability to interact well with wide range of internal and external professionals

• Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision

• Adept at handling multiple complex matters efficiently and concurrently

• Creative, resourceful, and strategic thinker

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Organized and detail oriented

The starting pay range for this position is:

$160,500.00 - $214,100.00

Additionally, for full time positions, you will be eligible to participate in our incentive program based upon the achievement of organization, team and personal performance.
