About the Role
This position oversees medical accounts receivable collections for a multi-site physician group. Responsibilities include following up on claim denials across all assigned payers, resolving billing issues, and handling inquiries from patients and clinic staff. The specialist uses effective collection techniques to keep AR current, monitoring for delinquent payments and taking action to resolve them.
Key Responsibilities

Follow up on insurance billing to ensure prompt payment receipt
Interact professionally with patients and insurance companies on sensitive financial matters, working to recapture unpaid balances
Receive and resolve patient billing inquiries, initiating adjustment requests to address discrepancies
Follow up on all zero-payment EOBs, exploring all options to obtain claim payments
Conduct monthly reviews of assigned accounts, identifying and correcting errors
Provide support for account-related inquiries across internal stakeholders
Research billing issues and follow up with relevant parties to reach resolution
Initiate payer and/or patient refund requests for validated overpayments
Initiate debt write-off requests per established policies and regulatory guidelines

Requirements

2+ years medical billing and/or collections experience in a physician or medical facility setting
High school diploma or GED (billing/coding coursework preferred)
Knowledge of government insurance plans (Medicare Part B/C, Medicaid, advantage plans, Tricare, etc.) and commercial plans (PPO, HMO, EPO, HRA, etc.)
Working knowledge of CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10
Understanding of HIPAA guidelines
Proficiency in Word, Excel, and Outlook
EMR software experience preferred

Schedule & Other

Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM
Occasional travel to medical offices may be required
