Location & Onsite Flexibility:

ONLY LOCAL CANDIDATES CURRENTLY RESIDING NEAR WORK LOCATION – LIVERMORE / BAY AREA.
Assignment is primarily remote; occasional onsite presence may be required in Livermore and Oakland offices for T3 sessions, pilots, or SME meetings.

Job Description:
Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Instructional Designer to support an internal client. In this contract role, you will lead the design and development of technical training programs to support modernization of apprenticeships for distribution, substation, and transmission work. Your work will support workforce development, ensure compliance with operational standards, and align with strategic goals.
You will leverage established instructional design methodologies to assess stakeholder needs, analyze complex content, and evaluate delivered training while collaborating across diverse stakeholder groups.
Key Responsibilities:
• Apply instructional design methodologies to assess learning needs and evaluate training effectiveness
• Develop technical learning materials including hands-on practice activities, student guides, facilitator guides, scenarios, videos, assessments, simulations, and other instructional media
• Perform detailed task analysis for job functions, business processes, and systems
• Define learning objectives and course structures aligned with stakeholder needs
• Partner with cross-functional teams to conceptualize and deliver training content
• Work under direction of the Senior Instructional Designer using company standards and templates
• Write clear and effective instructional text, audio, and video scripts
• Participate in milestone meetings (task analysis, alpha, beta, train-the-trainer)
• Engage SMEs for content review and validation
• Incorporate feedback and self-manage deliverables and deadlines
