Overview
INSTALLER - JOURNEYMAN (RDTE)
Bowhead is seeking an Installer - Journeyman to join our team in Dahlgren, VA. the Installer will provide physical telecommunications installation support for the Corporate Network Design, Engineering and Installation (DE&I) group. The Installer will perform installation, termination, labeling and testing of optical fiber and twisted pair cables for voice, video and data through cable trays and conduits at both ends (patch panels and blocks).
Responsibilities
- Performs fusion splicing and cable terminations using 3M Hot Melts and Corning UniCam Fiber Optic Connectors.
- Provides assistance in building telecommunication rooms while adhering to applicable standards and specifications
- Performs testing and troubleshooting of structured cabling systems which include Entrance Facilities, Equipment Rooms, Backbone Cabling, Telecommunications Room, Horizontal Cabling and Work Area's
- Ensures transmission fundamentals of copper and fiber media are maintained
- Installs, tests and labels surface or wall mount networking outlets, for both types of media (Copper and/or Fiber)
- Documents configuration changes and provides to the Installation Team Lead for incorporation into the Communications Diagrams
- Installation of Cable Support Systems, which include Conduits, Cable Tray and Vertical raceway
Qualifications
- Positions requires a high school diploma or equivalent and up to two (0-2) years' experience.
- Must have strong troubleshooting and critical thinking skills
- Strong attention to detail, good documentation skills, ability to write clear, concise project reports
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to lift up to 10-15 pounds
- Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time
- Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically
SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance at the Secret level. US Citizenship is a requirement for Secret clearance at this location.
