Job Title: Inpatient Coding Integrity Specialist III (CIS III)
Location: Remote / Work From Home (U.S. – Richmond, VA Area Preferred)
Schedule: Full-Time

Compensation & Performance Metrics

• Hourly Rate: $24.61 – $34.00 (Based on experience)
• Productivity Standard: 1.8 charts per hour
• Quality Standard: Must meet or exceed established accuracy and coding integrity benchmarks

Join a leading organization in revenue cycle management, recognized for excellence and ethical business practices. As an Inpatient Coding Integrity Specialist III, you will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of clinical and financial data for acute care facilities nationwide.

This is a fully remote, high-impact position suited for experienced coding professionals who excel at analyzing complex inpatient medical records and applying advanced coding methodologies.

Key Responsibilities

• Advanced Coding: Review complex inpatient medical records to accurately assign and sequence ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes
• DRG Validation: Validate coding and DRG assignments in accordance with official guidelines and POA (Present on Admission) criteria
• Data Abstraction: Capture critical data elements such as physician details, discharge disposition, and query tracking
• Audit & Compliance: Resolve coding edits, investigate discrepancies, and support audit activities as needed
• Remote Productivity: Maintain high levels of accuracy and efficiency in a fully remote work environment

Required Qualifications

• Experience: 3–5 years of recent acute care inpatient (DRG) coding experience required
  • Note: Experience limited to LTAC, physician billing, or insurance coding will not be considered
• Certifications: RHIA, RHIT, or CCS (required)
• Education: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management (HIM) or Health Information Technology (HIT) preferred
• Technical Expertise:
  • ICD-10-CM & ICD-10-PCS
  • DRG assignment and validation
  • POA (Present on Admission) guidelines
